The ATCA Mentorship Program is designed to advance the science and business of air traffic management through leadership development, relationship building, and the transfer of knowledge between seasoned aerospace experts and early- to mid-career professionals.
In our inaugural year, ATCA will pair 8 mentors and mentees. Due to the limited number of slots, not everyone who applies will be accepted. Pending the success and feedback of the pilot program, we look forward to expanding the program in years to come.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
The 2022-2023 mentorship program will run for 12 months. Pairs commit to spending at least 12 hours together throughout the course of this year. This time is considered a minimum commitment and guideline and can be divided into several shorter or fewer longer appointments, virtual or in-person as mutually agreed.
Both the mentor and mentee must be ATCA members to participate, but not to apply. Participants must be members in good standing upon acceptance to the program and before the virtual kick-off event. Membership must remain in good standing for the entirety of the program year.
ATCA will conduct regular check-ins to ensure both mentors and mentees are getting value out of the program. ATCA will provide guidance on how to enrich the mentorship relationship through one-on-one consultations and optional group events throughout the year. ATCA staff will also profile select pairs in the ATCA Bulletin, the association’s monthly members-only e-magazine.
EXPECTATIONS AND CODE OF CONDUCT
Upon acceptance and in order to participate in the mentorship program, mentors and mentees must agree to and sign the expectations and code of conduct.
ATCA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our mentorship program is predicated on mutual respect. Discrimination or disrespect of any kind will result in ejection from the program.
While mentorship includes getting to know each other on a personal level, this program is not to be used as talk therapy or as a means to recruit or obtain a job or a recommendation for one.
Pairs will be matched based on complimentary applications and qualifications. Please be transparent in your application so ATCA can make the most thoughtful pairings.
Mentors and mentees commit to meeting for a minimum of 12 hours over the course of the year. These appointments may take place virtually or in-person as mutually agreed.
Mentor and mentee time is equally valuable. Both should accommodate the scheduling needs of the other and work in good faith to fulfill or exceed the commitment. If you are not able to fulfill the requirements of one hour per month, please let the ATCA staff know so that they may reassign your mentor or mentee.
Mentors and mentees must be ATCA members to participate. You will be required to be a member in good standing upon acceptance to the program and your membership must be valid through the entirety of the program year.
